Pearly-Thinaah storm into 2nd round in China after Kumamoto heartache

KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 6 Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah shook off their disappointment at the Kumamoto Masters last week by storming into the second round of the China Masters today.

The Malaysian duo made light work of China's new pairing, Ding Ke Yun and Wang Yi Duo, recording a 21-16, 21-14 victory in the opening round of the Super 750 event at the Shenzhen Gymnasium.

Pearly-Thinaah will face either Japan's Arisa Igarashi-Ayako Sakuramoto or Taiwan's Hsu Yin Hui-Lin Jhih Yun in the second round.

The pair will be eager to improve on their recent form, having suffered a disappointing first-round exit at the Kumamoto Masters in Japan.
