Pearly-Thinaah not too happy with their game in China Masters

KUALA LUMPUR: Women's pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah were a bit unhappy with their performance despite winning their first-round match at the China Masters today.

After exiting the Kumamoto Masters in the first round last week, the world No. 6 were determined to go further this time.

The Malaysian duo were barely troubled by China's new pairing, Ding Ke Yun-Wang Yi Duo, winning 21-16, 21-14 in 39 minutes.

However, the Paris Olympics semi-finalists were unsatisfied with their performance.

"We are happy to be back on court after last week's early loss, but we are a little unsatisfied with our performance.

"In the beginning, we made some simple mistakes that shouldn't have happened, but towards the end, we reminded ourselves to stay calm and enjoy every shot and that helped us get the win.

"We are looking forward to tomorrow's game, and hopefully, we will be more composed and enjoy the game more," said Thinaah in a post-match interview.

She added that it is good to be back in China and playing in Shenzen with a supportive crowd behind them.

They will play either Taiwan's Hsu Yin Hui-Lin Jhih Yun or Japan's Arisa Igarashi-Ayako Sakuramoto in the second round.
