Acting BAM president gives statement to MACC

KUALA LUMPUR: Acting BA of Malaysia (BAM) president Datuk V. Subramaniam was tight-lipped today about claims that he was called by the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) to give a statement about allegations of corruption within the national body.

BAM has confirmed that its Academy Badminton Malaysia was visited by officers from the MACC last week.

A web portal has reported that Subramaniam and BAM secretary general Datuk Kenny Goh had been called by the MACC to give statements.

"I can't and don't want to say anything, we have made a statement this morning, please refer to that.

"If there is anything else, I will inform the media," he told Timesport when contacted.

Earlier today the BAM confirmed that it had received a visit from the MACC.

"Officers from the MACC came over to our office last week to request for certain information.

"BAM extended its full cooperation during the visit," the statement read.

Another report stated that a high ranking officer in the national body is under investigation over allegations of receiving unauthorised allowances.

Timesport has reached out to MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki for comment.
