Malaysia team manager says there's no way to stop India

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia received a tough draw, against World No. 4 India in the Asian Games T20 cricket women's quarter-finals.

And Malaysia's Asiad challenge is expected to end at the Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field by tomorrow.

On Tuesday, Malaysia defeated Hong Kong by 22 runs to emerge as Group B champions.

Last year, seven-time Asian champions India beat Malaysia by 30 runs (DLS method) in the Asia Cup in Sylhet, Bangladesh.

Four Test-playing countries: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have qualified automatically for the Asian Games quarter-finals. A draw was done today to decide which of the Test-playing teams that Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong would face which teams in the last eight.

Indonesia will face No. 2 Asian-ranked Pakistan, Bangladesh will meet Hong Kong while Sri Lanka will face Thailand.

Malaysia team manager V. Vijayalingam said his players would face a tough task against favourites India.

"No way can we stop the Indians, who are fourth best in T20 in the world. I will be more than pleased if my players can get runs and take a few wickets against India.

"It will be a good learning experience for our players to play a Test-playing country.

"If we lose tomorrow, our challenge will be over in the Asian Games. But we already have achieved our target of reaching the quarter-finals."
