KUALA LUMPUR: For Farina Shawati Mohd Adnan, her outing in the UCI Track Cycling World Cup fourth leg in Santiago, Chile, yesterday, was another step forward in her career.
Though the Selangor-born rider didn’t win the race, she was nevertheless happy with her performance.
She finished ninth in the keirin and improved on her personal best time in the women’s individual sprint category.
“Ever since my appearance at the World Cup in Poland, I tried to finish in the highest position and collect as many points as possible.
“Even if I didn’t win the race, I am happy to finish in third and at ninth overall,” she said.
The Sime Darby Foundation cyclist made her debut in the World Cup series this year, which started earlier this month in Poland, Manchester, Canada and Chile.
“I have gained a lot of experience competing against international riders in this competition.
“After this, I will go back to Melbourne for training and focus on the Asian Track Championship at the National Velodrome (in Nilai) in February next year.”
