KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia wants to go big in organising international cycling events.
Malaysia National Cycling Federation (MNCF) hopes to host the 2026 Track World Cup and 2028 Track World Championships.
MNCF president Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill said that he had shared the national body's plans with Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh.
"We had discussed with the minister on MNCF's intention to organise the 2026 Track World Cup and 2028 Track World Championships. The minister was very receptive, but she said that we have to write to her to get the approval," said Amarjit.
"For the funding, we have to make sure that we can find the funds for the events. I have said that it's important for these events to be held in Malaysia to give our athletes the chance to compete on home ground."
