TERENGGANU Cycling Team (TSG) continued their strong form in Turkey as three of their riders finished in the top 10 at the Grand Prix of Mediterranean on Saturday.
Harrif Saleh, who won the GP Velo Manavgat race a fortnight ago, finished just off the podium after coming in fourth in the sprint finish.
Teammates Irwandie Lakasek and Wan Abdul Rahman Hamdan, who was promoted to the elite squad last year, did well to finish sixth and eighth in the same group, while Metkel Eyob was 26th from over 150 starters.
TSG's Nur Aiman Zariff and Carlos Quintero, who won last month's GP Velo Alanya, finished out of the top 50 after doing their part for the team earlier in the race.
Salcano Sakarya BB Team notched a 1-2 finish through Onur Balkan (3:19:46s) and Georgios Bouglas, while Wildlife Generation Pro Cycling's Noah Granigan completed the podium.
Though disappointed to miss out on the podium, Harrif was content with his performance considering the tough conditions in the 157.4-kilometre one-day race.
"Today's (Saturday) race was quite tough due to the strong winds, so I am satisfied with my fourth position," said Harrif.
"It is good to get another 20 UCI ranking points. I have to thank my teammates for their support. I could not have done it without them."
Harrif became the first Malaysian rider to win an UCI classified road race in Europe when he triumphed at the Velo Manavgat GP.
TSG competed in the Gundogmus GP late yesterday, which completed their six-race schedule in Turkey.
