KUALA LUMPUR: Track cyclist Shah Firdaus Sahrom's medal hopes in the men's keirin alive after qualifying for the final at the Paris Olympics today.
Shah crossed the line fourth in his men's keirin semi-final heat behind Australian Matthew Richardson, Harrie Lavreysen (Netherlands) and Japan's Ota Kaiya.
Kaiya, however, was relegated to fourth. Only the top-three qualified for the final.
Two riders - Hamish Turnbull (Great Britain) and Luca Spiegel (Germany) - had crashed during the race. It is unclear whether Kaiya had caused the crash.
