KUALA LUMPUR: Track cyclist Shah Firdaus Sahrom suffered a heavy crash in the men's keirin final at the Paris Olympics today.
Shah Firdaus, Great Britain's Jack Carlin and Japan's Shinji Nakano were involved in the final lap crash at the Saint Quentin en Yvelines Velodrome.
Shah was listed fourth in the initial results, however, it is unknown whether there will be any changes.
As expected Harrie Lavreysen (Netherlands) and Matthew Richardson (Australia) claimed gold and silver. Australia's Matthew Glaetzer took bronze.
Shah had earlier today crossed the line fourth in his men's keirin semi-final heat behind Australian Matthew Richardson, Harrie Lavreysen (Netherlands) and Ota Kaiya (Japan).
Kaiya, however, was relegated to fourth and thus Shah was promoted to third. Only the top-three in each semi-final heat qualified for the final.
Two riders - Hamish Turnbull (Great Britain) and Luca Spiegel (Japan) - had crashed during the race and after a video review, Kaiya was found to be the cause of the crash.
