Malaysians slam Japanese Shinji after crash with Shah Firdaus

KUALA LUMPUR: Irked Malaysians have hit out at Japanese rider Shinji Nakano after he was involved in a collision with Shah Firdaus Sahrom in the Olympic keirin final today.

Shinji was involved in a three-rider crash involving

Shah Firdaus and Britain's Jack Carlin.

During the final lap, Shah Firdaus was making his move on the outside of Nakano, but both riders collided with each other and also took out Carlin with them.

Shah Firdaus was initially shown to have finished fourth, but was relegated to the last spot, sixth. Nakano and Carlin were classified as "did not finish".

The commissaire deemed Shah Firdaus to be at fault for the collision for "moving inside of the track when an opponent was already there".

But that did not stop Malaysians from trolling the Asian Games champion's Instagram account and showing their displeasure.

One user commented: "Why hit people? Unprofessional athlete!"

Another added: "Unprofessional athlete, ban him from this".

"Shame on you... why you hit Shah Firdaus... no sportsmanship at all... disrespect", commented another user.
