Thailand football coach apologises over outburst

“HE has apologised and he said it was his fault.”

This was Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin’s response to Thailand women’s football head coach, Spencer Prior’s outburst on social media.

“I checked with (FA of Malaysia secretary-general) Datuk Hamidin (Mohd Amin) just now and he told me it was their fault,” said Khairy yesterday.

“It was a miscommunication on their part because he didn’t check the training venue properly.”

On Monday, Prior took to Twitter to vent out his frustrations and regarded the 29th Sea Games is the worst event that’s has ever been organised.

He said the Thailand women’s football squad only managed a 15-minute training session before being hauled off by officials to make way for other teams.

Prior claimed the team’s woes with the training venue was due to the official in charge informing him that the training venue was only three kilometres from the team’s hotel when the actual distance was 30km.
