KUALA LUMPUR: Ampersand Sports have come out and stated that FA of Malaysia (FAM) president and Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership (FMLLP) chairman, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, also known as Tengku Mahkota Johor (TMJ) is very important in attracting sponsors from various industries.
Ampersand Sports chairman, Tan Sri Vincent Lee, said that in a short period of time, thanks to Tunku Ismail’s efforts and hard work, they have managed to do so much to successfully boost Malaysian football’s profile among the corporate community.
"We have managed to get a couple of sponsors now and there are many more who are interested to come on board. We are now on the right track in achieving the target and commitment of RM20 million for the first year.
"This is a historic achievement that has never been done before and it involves various companies and corporate entities across the board. At the same time, it is obvious that all the sponsors want to see financial management that is trustworthy and professional, which is achievable under Tunku Ismail’s continued leadership.
"Tunku Ismail is the key to a bright and better future for Malaysian football,” said Vincent in a media statement issued earlier today (Wednesday).
Meanwhile, Ampersand Sports director, K. Sivanathan explained that under Tunku Ismail’s stewardship, FMLLP have become more professional and innovative, and making it much easier in attracting sponsors and engaging in cooperation with external entities.
"FMLLP chief executive officer, Kevin Ramalingam has also been working very closely with Ampersand Sports to find and create new sponsorship opportunities for domestic football. For the first time, we are working together with a company such as Shopee Malaysia, which is a fine example of new opportunities created.
"No one would have imagined that there would be demand for tickets online for Super League matches and we were all pleasantly surprised by the fact that Super League tickets sold online by Shopee Malaysia were sold out in a matter of minutes,” said Sivanathan.
