Selangor ruler, TMJ agree that football rivalries should remain on the pitch

KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor Sultan Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah granted an audience to the Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, also the owner of Johor Darul Ta'zim, yesterday.

In a statement posted on the HRH Crown Prince of Johor's Facebook page, it was revealed that Tunku Ismail and Sultan Sharafuddin discussed their views on unity among the people.

Football was also a topic of discussion, with both agreeing that rivalries should remain strictly on the pitch.

"Tunku Ismail had an audience with Sultan Sharafuddin on Oct 1," read the post.

"The Sultan of Selangor and the Regent of Johor shared their thoughts on unity, professionalism in Malaysia, and the importance of a united Royal Institution as a symbol of the country."

Football matters were also raised, with both agreeing that football rivalries should stay on the pitch, while mutual respect and unity should prevail off it.
