KUALA LUMPUR: Former two-time World Player of the Year, Ronaldinho is interested to play in the M-League — and it’s for free!
That is if he is really free - without other commitments.
The Brazilian superstar who announced his retirement from playing in January, said he is pressed for time managing a football academy as well as his new career as a musician, making it difficult for him to make a comeback to football.
"This is not a joke (playing in Malaysia). I would love to play football here.
“I like to play in a country where football is loved, and if I am welcomed with open arms.
"I am interested to play for a club in Malaysia, and maybe play for free," said Ronaldinho, who is in Malaysia as part of the UEFA Champions League trophy tour organised by Heineken.
About 300 Malaysian fans turned up at a shopping complex in Kuala Lumpur today to see the 38-year-old Brazilian, who used to play for Barcelona, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
Ronaldinho was crowned as the World Player of the Year in 2004 and 2005 and he also won the Champions League as well as La Liga with Barcelona.
He spearheaded Brazil to the 2002 World Cup title and the Confederation Cup crown in 2005.
When asked who will win this season’s Champions League, the Porto Alegre-born Ronaldinho picked Barcelona, who are led by his favourite player, Lionel Messi.
