KUALA LUMPUR: The FA of Malaysia (FAM) hope M-League clubs will release their Under-23 players called up for centralised training ahead of the Asian Games in Indonesia in August.
FAM acting president Datuk Yusoff Mahadi said there is still a good chance that these players, selected by coach Ong Kim Swee, will report on Aug 1 for a 10-day training stint.
"I expect the trainees to show up even though there could be two Malaysia Cup matches scheduled during this period,” said Yusoff.
“I hope the clubs will release their players as the Asian Games is an important assignment.
Kim Swee is worried as he has not been given assurance that his trainees will turn up for centralised training.
“There is a possibility that some clubs may only release their players after the two Malaysia Cup matches, but I hope they will not do that.,” Yusoff added.
