Syazwan returns to JDT

KUALA LUMPUR: Reigning Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) have signed national player Syazwan Andik Ishak for the upcoming season.

JDT took less than 24 hours to entice the left-back after they had announced their intention to sign the 23-year-old via a posting on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page.

The former AFC Cup champions posted photos of Syazwan, wearing a JDT collar t-shirt, and standing next to the club logo on their page. It also posted ‘Welcome home Syazwan Andik’ above the photos on the page, which also had a short video.

Syazwan is JDT’s second major local signing after Akhyar Rashid, who penned a four-year contract with a release clause of RM12 million.

The Skudai-born had played for JDT II in the Premier League before deciding on joining Kuala Lumpur in 2017.

Syazwan had a contract with KL but opted to terminate it after the club had failed to settle his salary for over two months last season.

He claimed that KL did not pay him his salary for November and December.

“I terminated my contract with KL as they did not pay me for two months as stated in a clause,” he said recently.
