KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium field in Kuala Terengganu is set to be upgraded.
As part of the Malaysian Football League’s (MFL) pilot project to restore field quality, Terengganu will soon get to play in front of a larger crowd compared to their current venue, Sultan Nasaruddin Shah Stadium, which can accommodate only 10,000 fans.
“I am happy that MFL are contributing something to restore our pitch,” said coach Irfan Bakti.
“More fans will watch us play when we move to the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium.
“Although, the field is in satisfactory condition, its irrigation system is not very good.
“For example, if it rains in the morning, the field can only be used after a few days when the pitch is dry.”
Terengganu, who are seventh with nine points, will play Kedah later today at the Darulaman Stadium in Alor Star.
Irfan is currently not with the team as he is attending a pro licence course here. However, he is in constant contact with his coaching staff ahead of matches.
