JDT II nick Challenge Cup

JOHOR Darul Ta’zim II (JDT II) coach Ervin Boban praised his players following the success of winning the Challenge Cup on Saturday.

JDT II, a feeder club for Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), edged UKM FC 6-5 on penalties following a 1-1 draw on aggregate in Cheras.

“We prepared hard for the tournament after coming close to winning the Premier League this year. My players deserve this title,” said Boban on Saturday.

In the Premier League, JDT were edged by Sabah to the crown.

Boban dedicated the win to JDT owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim for motivating players from both teams (JDT and JDT II) to do their best in competitions.

“We thank Tunku Ismail for all his support. The JDT family are a force thanks to him,” said Boban.

UKM assistant coach Juzaili Samion said his players should be proud of their achievement in the competition.

“They gave more than 100 per cent in today’s final return leg. There is nothing to be ashamed of in losing on penalties. Luck was just not on our side,” he said. Farah Azharie
