KUALA LUMPUR: He was tipped to be one of Malaysia’s Sea Games key players. But now he can only watch the action from outside.
It has been one huge disappointment for Amercan-born Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal.
He was dropped from the final 20-man Sea Games squad due to documentation issue.
Kuzain took to Twitter to express his disappointment. “Gutted not to be able to represent Malaysia in the upcoming Sea Games. I hope that everything would work out and allow me to take part but unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be this time,” he said.
“Good luck to the team in the Philippines!”
The 21-year-old’s short message saw close to 2,500 retweets and 5,100 likes which showed that many netizens were excited to see the Major League Soccer player don the national jersey.
Kuzain is an American passport holder and plays for Sporting Kansas City in Missouri. This seems to be the reason behind his failed attempt to wear the national colours as Malaysian law prohibits dual-citizenship.
