JDT set to be M-League's 1st RM1 billion club

Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) could become the first M-League club to be worth about RM1 billion.

Club owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim believes it will be achievable in two years time.

He said four of the biggest accounting firms in the world will be making the evaluation based on JDT’s assets and commercial value.

“We hope to be recognised as a club with an estimated value of RM1 billion or more.

“That’s my big plan to ensure JDT remain a class above the rest. We are also in talks with potential shareholders including former Italian international Marco Materazzi.”

“Other former internationals are also keen to become JDT’s shareholders,” said Tunku Ismail.

He also confirmed that the new Sultan Ibrahim Stadium will officially open its doors on Jan 28.

Tunku Ismail has also channeled RM75 million to build a training centre next to the new stadium. It will become a training centre to groom players as young as 12-years-old.

The training centre will also include an 8,000-capacity mini-stadium and two indoor fields.

“The medical centre at the club’s training venue in Seri Gelam will be completed in April. The centre will be equipped with state-of-art facilities,” he added.
