MIDFIELDER Armin Maier Rafi hopes to don Harimau Malaya colours one day.
Born in Singapore to a German father and a Malaysian-Singaporean mother, Armin, who plays for Selangor II in the Premier League, has applied for a Malaysian passport.
The 23-year-old said: "My dream is to play for Malaysia.
"I always had a connection with Malaysia. My mother used to gather Malaysians at our home when we were in Germany.
"So when I found out that my grandfather was from Johor, I spoke to several people in the Malaysian football community and also contacted Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim."
Armin, who has featured for Singapore's Under-23 side, then had a trial with JDT.
"I contacted FA of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general Stuart Ramalingam seeking advice on how to apply for a passport.
"I followed up by submitting the necessary documents, which were verified by the relevant parties."
"However, I am still waiting for the passport.
"At the moment, I am playing for Selangor II as a foreigner.
"I am here and ready, and hopefully, the matter will be resolved soon," he added.
