KUALA LUMPUR: A home and away format for the FA Cup final is possible in the near future, but not this season, said Malaysian Football League (MFL) president Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan.
He said this in response to speculation that the FA Cup final, traditionally a one-match affair, would be reformated into two legs.
"We still need to research the pros and cons (of having a two-legged FA Cup final) just like what we did when restructuring the M-League," he said today.
Ghani said an announcement on the venue for the FA Cup final will be made on Tuesday next week.
The M-League administrators are looking at venues outside the Klang Valley for the FA Cup final.and considering the sponsors and spectators.
Ghani also denied that the FA Cup final could be held at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, the home of Johor Darul Ta'zim.
JDT has qualified for the FA Cup final and awaits the winners of the Terengganu-Selangor semi-final tonight.
