KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor FC have kicked their German coach, Michael Feichtenbeiner, to another department.
His assistant, Nidzam Jamil, will take over as interim coach of their Super League team for the rest of the 2022 season.
The 62-year-old Feichtenbeiner has been criticised by Selangor fans for the team's poor showing this season. He was removed from the team after their elimination in the FA Cup semi-finals last week. Selangor are now seventh in the 12-team Super League with four wins, four draws and five defeats.
Selangor FC, in a statement today, said Feichtenbeiner would now focus on his role as Selangor sporting director, a post that he held in 2020.
Selangor also announced that they are looking for a new head coach for their first team.
Selangor, the 33-time Malaysia Cup champions, are no longer the big guns in Malaysian football. Their last success was winning the Malaysia Cup in 2015 and they last won the Super League in 2010.
