KUANTAN: Sri Pahang FC footballer Sergio Aguero today joined hundreds of voters at the SK Semambu polling centre here to exercise his rights as a Malaysian citizen in the 15th general election.
The 28-year-old attacker became a naturalised Malaysian citizen this year before he confirmed the news on his Instagram account on Sept 16.
Aguero, who was born in La Rioja, Argentina, said he was honoured to be a Malaysian and ti fulfil his responsibility to vote for the first time.
"I hope Malaysia will go on to form a stable government," said Aguero who is a registered voter under the Indera Mahkota parliamentary constituency and Semambu state seat.
On Sept 16, Aguero took to social media to confirm his Malaysian citizenship thanking Sri Pahang's management team for the assistance in the naturalisation process.
He wrote that Kuantan has become a special place for him and his family, and he intends to stay for a long time.
