Yazan's timely return a boost for Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR: Jordanian Yazan Al-Arab is back from international duty and raring for action as Selangor take on Terengganu in the Malaysia Cup semi-final return leg match tomorrow.

The 26-year-old defender was away when Selangor defeated Terengganu 3-1 in Kelana Jaya last week.

Yazan was part of the Jordanian team who lost 3-1 to former world champions Spain in a friendly in Amman on Nov 17.

The Red Giants expect a tough return leg at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium tomorrow, and Yazan will be depended on to hold the defence.

"Yazan is back, and he will be part of my plans for the game tomorrow," said Selangor coach Tan Cheng Hoe.

"I think his experience playing against Spain will benefit us. He gave a good account against Spain, who fielded players like Pablo Sarabia, Marco Asensio and Ansu Fati.

"The confidence he gained from the match could offer him and the team motivation tomorrow."

Cheng Hoe warned his players not to be overconfident when they face Nafuzi Zain's side.

"The Turtles have some big names, and I believe they will be on fire. I will have a full-strength squad as we have no injuries or suspensions."

Selangor last reached the Malaysia Cup final in 2016, where they lost to Kedah on penalties.

Meanwhile, Nafuzi believes his charges, with the help of their fans, will overturn the deficit and reach the final.

"I think we can do it as long we work hard. We have to score three goals and avoid conceding any.

"It will not be easy, but we have home advantage, and my players are determined to beat Selangor," said Nafuzi, who confirmed that all his players are available for the game.

Terengganu captain Kipre Tchetche, striker Kpah Sherman and Faisal Halim are Nafuzi's key players who could turn the tables on Selangor. Sherman is the leading scorer with seven goals.
