14 teams in this year's Super League

KUALA LUMPUR: It's confirmed this year's Super League will kick off with only 14 teams.

There will be no more additions, no more waiting for late entries.

The teams that will compete are Johor Darul Ta'zim, Selangor, Sabah, Terengganu, Negri Sembilan, KL City, Sri Pahang, Penang, Perak, Sabah, Kelantan, Kelantan United, Kuching City, Police and Kedah.

Notably missing from this season will be PJ City, UiTM FC, Sarawak United and Melaka United.

PJ City and UiTM have decided to withdraw due to the new format which allows for up to nine foreign players. Sarawak and Melaka failed to obtain national licences due to their bad record of not paying salaries.

Malaysian Football League chief executive officer Stuart Ramalingam confirmed that the Super League will have 14 teams.
