KUCHING: Coach Irfan Bakti wants to restore the fear factor in Sarawak football through his team, Kuching City.
In their heyday, Sarawak teams had always been hard to crack at home, but in the last five years, they have become the whipping boys in the M-League.
However, Irfan hopes that Kuching FC aim to turn their State Stadium into a fortress starting with tomorrow's Super League clash against Selangor.
After the Cats kicked off their Super League debut with a 2-1 win over Kelantan in Kota Baru last week, Irfan believes his men can pull off an upset against the Red Giants.
"In our heyday, teams were afraid to play in Sarawak. Even Fandi (Ahmad) told me this, but things have changed so much," said Irfan.
"The thing is we are still a small club compared to the other established clubs. We still have a long way to go but making our team hard to beat in Kuching will be the first step.
"Most of our players are first-timers in the Super League, even our imports are not big stars. As for Selangor they have a better squad, but we will try to get the points," said Irfan.
