Half-pay for half-baked performances

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kelantan footballers have received only half their pay, and they can only get back their full salary by winning their next two Super League matches.

This was the drastic move today by Kelantan FC owner Norizam Tukiman who bought the team three years ago for RM6.8 million.

The businessman said on his Facebook page that in 10 matches so far, Kelantan lost all their games, except for only one win and one draw.

He said the team are second last in the 14-team league, and they ware not meeting their KPI (key performance indicator.

"Want your full salary? Sure, please ensure a win in the next two games and the 50 per cent (in salary) that has been withheld will be paid in full.

"You have your commitment, I have mine. Give me performance. We will retain the good staff and we'll get rid of those who perform badly.

"In stock exchange, we call this cut our losses. Or, we change to something better," he said.

Recently, Kelantan FC posted job advertisements for various positions off the field, including admin and media officers. Norizam, it seems, is also doing "spring cleaning" at Kelantan FC home.
