KUALA LUMPUR: Police striker Ifedayo Omosuyi experienced a rollercoaster night in their resounding 5-0 victory over Kelantan Darul Naim (KDN) in a Super League match at the Selayang Stadium on Wednesday.
The two-time Super League Golden Boot winner (2020 and 2021) was the star of the first half, scoring a hat-trick in the 5th, 32nd, and 40th minutes.
However, his night took a dramatic turn when he was sent off during first-half injury time. Following a VAR review, referee Munir Mohd Izam showed Omosuyi a red card for stamping on the foot of a KDN player.
Despite being reduced to 10 men, Police dominated proceedings, and striker Shahrel Fikri Md Fauzi added to the tally with two goals, in the 66th and 71st minutes.
The victory lifted Police to fifth in the 13-team Super League table with 21 points from 16 matches, while KDN remained second from bottom with just seven points.
Meanwhile, at the Darul Aman Stadium, Kedah secured a narrow 1-0 win over Penang, courtesy of Sukhrob Nurulloev's 10th-minute winner.
The cash-strapped Canaries are now ninth in the standings with 17 points, while the Panthers sit in 11th place with 14 points.
