National Under-23 coach E. Elavarasan believes his players understand what is required of them in today's Asean Under-23 football match against Timor Leste in Rayong, Thailand.
He said Timor Leste, in restricting Indonesia to a 1-0 win in a Group B match on Sunday, showed that they are no pushovers.
"If you look at their performance last year, Timor Leste were semi-finalists, so we can't say they are an ordinary team. They lost only narrowly to Indonesia." said Elavarasan.
Malaysia had beaten Indonesia 2-1 in a group match, and should they defeat Timor Leste, they will reach the semi-finals.
Malaysia's best performance at the Asean Under-23 was fourth in 2005.
