KUALA LUMPUR: Spicegals FC were
crowned champions in the Kuala Lumpur Women's Super League (KLWSL) at the KLFA Stadium in Cheras here on Sunday.
Spicegals edged PJKITA 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time in the final.
Ismail Firdaus Khalid's PJKITA scored first through Henrietta Justine in the fourth minute.
Six minutes later, Nelly Jamini equalised for Spicegals.
Both teams were unable to score additional goals, leading the match to be decided by a penalty shootout. Spicegals goalkeeper Azza Harmiza Basharuddin became the hero when she blocked Nur Balqis Zamrin's penalty, securing the title for her team.
Spicegals earned RM 11,111.11 for their efforts while PJKITA received RM 4,444.44.
The prizes were presented by
Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
Meanwhile, Setiawangsa Rangers secured third place by defeating Kelantan FA 7-6 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regulation time at the same venue.
