KUALA LUMPUR: National team midfielder Natxo Insa has become a target of fans' criticism following Malaysia's 1-0 defeat to Bahrain at the AFC Asian Cup in Qatar yesterday.
Insa, who is the oldest in the squad, replaced Syamer Kutty Abba in the second-half.
Harimau Malaya fans were disappointed by the performance displayed by the 38-year-old. A number of them claimed that he failed to make an impact and was not as effective as Syamer was in the first-half.
Subsequently, negative comments about Insa were posted on the FA of Malaysia (FAM) Facebook page today.
A number of other players have also been on the receiving end of criticism.
Some fans, however, are maintaining a positive outlook and gave words of encouragement to the team.
Malaysia has lost both its Group E matches so far. They lost 4-0 to Jordan in their opening game last week.
They will play tournament favourites South Korea in their final group game on Thursday.
