'Special' Faisal Halim may return home mid-next month [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: National player Faisal Halim will undergo further treatment, including more surgeries, in an effort to treat his severe burns.

However, the 26-year-old forward is deemed 'special' by the specialist doctor overseeing his care due to his rapid recovery from the injuries sustained in the acid attack on May 5.

Selangor FC board member Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar hasn't ruled out the possibility of the key player returning home by mid-next month.

He said Faisal's recovery is smooth, but he will need to wait at least three more days before undergoing the next surgery.

"The doctor advised us to allow Faisal's body to take its course before proceeding with further surgery.

"The specialist overseeing his treatment regards Faisal's progress as remarkable.

"However, regardless of the speed of his recovery, he still requires another week in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) before receiving clearance from the doctor to be transferred to a different ward," he said.

On Thursday, Faisal, affectionately known as Mickey, underwent his third surgery, which involved a skin allograft procedure lasting about three hours.

Faisal sustained fourth-degree burns on several parts of his body, including his hands, back, and face, after being splashed with sulfuric acid by an unknown assailant at a shopping mall in Kota Damansara.

Meanwhile, Shahril clarified that Faisal cannot receive visitors at this time to prevent the risk of bacterial infection as he continues to heal.
