Fan violence mars Selangor's triumph in Jakarta [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor's 1-0 triumph in the final of the RCTI Premium Sports trophy against Persija Jakarta was marred by fan violence yesterday.

Towards the end of the match, Persija fans, frustrated by their club's tame display, hurled flares and objects onto the pitch at the Jakarta International Stadium.

Cape Verde forward Alvin Fortes scored the winner for Selangor in the fourth minute through a header.

This was the second trophy for Selangor this season after their triumph in the Selangor Asia Challenge pre-season.

The Red Giants won US$30,000 (RM140,000) for their success in Jakarta while Fortes was awarded the Man of the Match.

Meanwhile Sabah took third place and US$10,000 (RM47,069) by overcoming PSIS Semarang 3-2.
