KUALA LUMPUR: Following Nidzam Jamil's sudden resignation as Selangor FC head coach, the fans are now calling for the club's chief executive officer Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon to step down.
They demand accountability following Selangor's disappointing 3-0 defeat against Johor Darul Ta'zim on Sunday, which led to widespread criticism of the Selangor management.
The hashtag #NJOUT (Nidzam Jamil out) gained traction on social media prior to the match, reflecting the growing discontent among fans.
Now that Nidzam has left the team, the fans are now shifting their focus to Johan, demanding a need for management reform.
"The other day, everyone wanted Nidzam out. Are you satisfied now? Let's hear your suggestions for a replacement," said a fan, Irsyad, on Instagram.
"As long as the management lacks expertise, Selangor will remain trophy-less," said another fan, Rezachokichoki.
Some fans jokingly suggested that Selangor sign Erik ten Hag, the sacked Manchester United manager.
Meanwhile Selangor players expressed their gratitude to Nidzam on social media.
Team captain Safuwan Baharudin wrote: "He left on a high note and truly represented Selangor at the highest level. We will miss him dearly."
Goalkeeper Samuel Somerville, Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi and Khairulazhan Khalid also shared heartfelt messages of appreciation.
"Thank you for everything, coach. I learned so much from you," said defender Khuzaimi Piee.
