Selangor stumble, JDT give Malaysian University a football lesson

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor's four-match unbeaten this season came to an end with a 2-1 loss to Kuching City in the FA Cup quarter-final first leg at a rain-drenched State Stadium today.

Amid tempestuous weather, tempers flared on the pitch as four yellow cards were brandished within the opening 20 minutes.

Chilean Ronnie Fernandez fired the Red Giants into the lead in the 31st minute, but Kuching City equalised just before halftime in the 51st.

Ghanaian Jordan Mintah tilted the scales in favour of the hosts with his strike in the 64th.

At Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) gave Malaysian University a football lesson with a 5-0 win.

On target for the defending FA Cup champions were La'Vere Corbin-Ong

(second minute), Francisco Geraldes (48th and 61st), Shahrul Saad (71st) and Romel Morales (80th).
