Bergson stars as JDT dominate Selangor

PETALING JAYA: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) extended their lead at the top of the Super League standings with a convincing 3-0 victory over Selangor at the MBPJ Stadium on Sunday.

Selangor, aiming for revenge after their 6-1 defeat to JDT in the FA Cup final, held firm in the opening minutes. However, the Southern Tigers broke through in the 30th minute with a Romel Morales header that beat goalkeeper Azim Al Amin Kamaruddin.

Brazilian striker Bergson Da Silva doubled JDT's lead in the 44th minute, capitalising on a clever assist from Arif Aiman Hanapi.

In the 54th minute, JDT earned a penalty, and Da Silva converted from the spot to further extend their advantage.

With this win, JDT widened their lead at the top of the Super League table with 34 points, eight clear of Selangor.

It was Selangor's first defeat since their 1-0 loss to KL City on July 14.
