KUALA LUMPUR: Harimau Malaya will battle Tajikistan, Lebanon and the Philippines in the Merdeka Tournament at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Sept 2-10.
The tournament will offer Kim Pan Gon's side a good warm-up for the Asian Cup qualifiers, which start in March next year.
World No. 102 Tajikistan are the highest-ranked team in the Merdeka Tournament, followed by Lebanon (No. 117), Malaysia (No 135) and the Philippines (No. 147).
Tajikistan defeated Malaysia 2-0 in last year's final.
FA of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general Datuk Noor Azman Rahman confirmed the four-team lineup and the dates in a statement on Monday.
Malaysia last won the title when it was an Under-23 affair in 2013.
The tournament made its return last year after a 10-year hiatus.
