KL City star Josue claims he is owed seven months salary

KUALA LUMPUR: Naturalised national footballer Paulo Josue may just be the mostly unlucky player in the M-League this season.

The Kuala Lumpur City player has confirmed that he has not received his salary for the last seven months.

The Brazil-born said he is surviving on his savings.

"Some KL City players have unpaid salary issues from March but their situation is not as bad as mine as the last time I was paid was in December last year," Josue told Harian Metro today.

"I have discussed this issue with KL City's management and they promised to pay half a month's salary. It turned out to be a false promise as they did not pay.

"A lot of people have asked me why I am still with KL City. I am still here because this team is very dear to me and I also love playing as a professional player."

KL City had previously faced issues with unpaid wages though the club's management stated that they have been settled.

Doubts, however, surfaced following recent posts on social media which claimed some players are owed five months salary.

Josue, 35, added that he has already informed the relevant authorities regarding the issue.

"Some have said that KL City only owe two months (salary). That is a lie, you can ask me for confirmation.

"Ask the other players whether they have received their full salaries. I don't think that has happened."

Efforts to contact KL City chief executive officer Stanley Bernard for comment were unsuccessful.
