KUALA LUMPUR: Kuching City coach Aidil Sharin Sahak hopes for better days ahead following their first Super League win at State Stadium, Sarawak, on Friday.
Kuching defeated Police 2-0 with goals from Danial Amier Norhisham in the second minute and Jordan Mintah in stoppage time.
Aidil's side now have six points from one win and three draws after five matches, placing them provisionally sixth in the standings.
"Kuching have finally won a league match. It shows we are progressing. It is like a new beginning for the club," said Aidil, who thanked the fans for their support at the stadium.
Police coach P. Maniam said his team struggled to find their rhythm.
"We failed to convert our chances. However, my players tried their best in the match. I am pleased with the effort," said Maniam, whose team have collected only four points from five matches and are provisionally ninth in the standings.
In Alor Star, Kedah secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Kelantan Darul Naim at Darulaman Stadium.
Rizal Ghazali (10th minute), Syafiq Ahmad (58th minute), and Sony Norde (73rd minute) were the scorers for Kedah, who are provisionally fifth with six points.
Kedah coach Nafuzi Zain said it was a significant result after two league defeats.
"We hope to maintain our momentum and continue to climb the Super League standings," said Nafuzi.
Kelantan remain second from bottom in the 13-team standings with three points.
