Kuching City coach Aidil Sharin Sahak praised his team's discipline and determination in their 3-1 victory over KL City in Saturday's Super League game, despite finishing the match with only nine players on the field.
"Credit to all my players for working hard throughout the 90 minutes. Playing with nine players and still coming away with a 3-1 victory is no easy feat," said Aidil after the match.
The Cats took the lead in the opening minute at the State Stadium in Kuching, courtesy of an own goal from KL City's Giancarlo Gallifuoco.
Petrus Shitembi (45th minute) and Tchetche Kipre (68th) added to the scoreline for the hosts.
KL City's Paulo Josue managed to pull one back in the 62nd minute.
Kuching City captain James Okwuosa and Kipre were sent off in the 62nd and 78th minutes, respectively.
KL City coach Miroslav Kuljanac was unhappy with some of the referee's decisions.
"There were two penalties and a red card. I can't agree with all the referee's decisions, but credit to Kuching. They played well.
"We had a few chances, but their goalkeeper, Wan Azraie Wan Teh, was also solid, so no luck this time.
"We have to be more disciplined, and I believe we are improving defensively."
With this win, Kuching City now sit fifth in the standings with 18 points, four spots above KL City, who have 14 points.
