KUALA LUMPUR: The National Stadium pitch is reported to be in top condition ahead of the FA Cup final between Johor Darul Ta'zim and Selangor at 9pm today.
However, there are concerns that heavy rain and thunderstorms forecast for this evening could affect the pitch's condition.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department said there would be an improvement in the weather as night fell.
Football fans are keeping their fingers crossed for the weather to remain clear.
The pitch has had problems when matches were played in the rain.
During the Pestabola Merdeka last year, the newly upgraded grass pitch was criticised for its poor condition, with sections torn up.
A similar situation happened after Ed Sheeran's concert in February, when the pitch was again deemed unsatisfactory for an international match in March.
