Road closures, detours near National Stadium for FA Cup final

KUALA LUMPUR: Several roads in the vicinity of the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil here will be closed with traffic to be diverted in conjunction with the FA Cup final between Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) and Selangor FC, scheduled to take place this Saturday.

City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said traffic diversions will begin at 9am.

"Traffic officers will be stationed to manage the flow of traffic around the stadium to prevent congestion.

"There are 4,968 parking spaces available around the stadium and if these spaces are full, the police will implement road closures and divert as needed," he said in a press conference after presenting medals at an award ceremony at the Kuala Lumpur contingent headquarters here today.

He said traffic from the Kesas Highway to the Sukom traffic light and from the Sukom traffic light to Jalan Merah Chagar will be diverted to Awan Kecil/Awan Besar; those from Kesas Highway to Jalan Barat will be diverted to Jalan Radin/Sri Petaling and those from Jalan Radin to Jalan Barat will be diverted to Shah Alam.

Those coming from the Jalan Kuda roundabout to Jalan Barat using the Puchong Link would diverted to Kinrara; from the Puchong Link to Jalan Barat, and from Kinrara to Kuda roundabout.

Meanwhile, to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow during the football match, Rusdi advised the public to use public transportation to reach the stadium and use Touch 'n Go for quick payment on public transport and vehicle parking to reduce congestion.

"Make sure you enter the stadium through the correct gate as indicated on your ticket.

"Avoid driving through roads around the stadium if you are not attending the match, to avoid traffic jams and practice patience, courtesy and tolerance while driving," he said.

Rusdi also warned that vehicles parked on the roadside around the stadium entrance and exit will be subject to fines and towing.
