KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor FC management won't step down despite coming under much criticism from fans and pundits following the humiliating 6-1 loss to Johor Darul Ta'zim in the FA Cup final.
FA of Selangor deputy president Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar insists that it's too premature for the Selangor FC management to give up.
Shahril said they need to regroup instead and focus on strengthening the Red Giants.
"It's a collective responsibility, and while the FA Cup final was a setback, it's not the time for us to step aside. We are making progress, though we acknowledge that mistakes have been made. We need to address these issues, including player selections and strategies," said Shahril.
He stressed that the club must win a cup this year to reflect the management's performance.
"Our immediate goal is to win a cup. If we fall short, we will certainly reconsider our management strategies," said Shahril.
Shahril revealed that Selangor are undergoing a coaching restructure. Coach Nidzam Jamil will retain his position, but changes will be made to his supporting staff.
