Avanzini praises 'demanding' coach after scoring on Negri debut

KUALA LUMPUR: New signing Sebastian Avanzini has described Negri Sembilan coach K. Nanthakumar as "demanding" following their 2-2 draw with Penang in Sunday's Super League match at City Stadium in Georgetown.

However, Avanzini believes Nanthakumar's no-nonsense coaching style will help Negri perform better in the competition.

"From day one, he has been very demanding. He has a great character and attitude. I genuinely believe in his values, both as a person and as a coach," said the 29-year-old Avanzini.

When asked about maintaining his momentum, Avanzini said Negri must work harder.

"We had a good result today, and that's something to celebrate. But in football, hard work is just the beginning. How we perform in the next match is crucial," said the Italian midfielder.

Avanzini made his debut for Negri against Penang, scoring the equaliser just before half-time.

Hadin Azman had opened the scoring for Negri in the first minute, before Penang responded with goals from Rodrigo Da Silva Dias and Christopher Halls in the 14th and 16th minutes.
