KL City's Brendan says 'happy dressing room' key to ACC win

KUALA LUMPUR: KL City midfielder Brendan Gan has credited the team's strong dressing room culture for their hard-fought 1-0 win over Indonesia's Borneo FC in the Asean Club Championship (ACC) at the KLFA Stadium, Cheras, on Thursday.

Despite facing challenges — including salary arrears, a transfer ban, fines of up to RM100,000 and a six-point deduction for falsifying licensing documents — Brendan praised the squad's unity and determination to make an impact.

Brendan scored the only goal of the match in the 77th minute.

"These tough circumstances have only strengthened our resolve," said Brendan.

"Our ability to support one another has been key to our success."

He added: "We're united as players, and we put in the hard work, and it's made a real difference in our performances."

KL City and Vietnam's Cong An Hanoi are level on six points, but the latter lead Group B on goal difference.

The top two teams from Groups A and B will advance to the semi-finals.

KL City will resume their ACC campaign next year with matches against Singapore's Lion City Sailors at Jalan Besar Stadium on Jan 9, Cong An Hanoi on Jan 23, and Buriram United on Feb 6.
