Brendan set for Selangor reunion with KL City in derby

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor are looking forward to facing their former captain Brendan Gan when the Red Giants take on KL City in Sunday's Super League clash at KLFA Stadium, Cheras.

Brendan played for Selangor from 2020 to 2023.

"Frankly, I miss Brendan's presence at Selangor. He added more flair and always gave his best," Selangor coach Nidzam Jamil said on Saturday.

"Seeing him on the other side of the pitch tomorrow (Sunday) will be awkward."

Deemed the Klang Valley derby, Nidzam said Brendan is not the only key player in the KL City squad.

"Captain Paulo Josue is tactically good. They also have other quality players in D. Kenny Pallraj, Giancarlo Gallifuoco, and goalkeeper Azri Ghani," said Nidzam.

Despite the salary issues at KL City, Nidzam warned his players to maintain their winning mentality.

"We must respect every opponent in the league. My players should concentrate on their game and play to their best."

The Red Giants are second in the league standings with nine points, while KL City are eighth with four points.
