KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor coach Nidzam Jamil prefers to look at the glass half full after his men edged Cebu 1-0 in an Asian Champions League 2 (ACL2) Group H match on Thursday.
Venezuelan midfielder Yohandry Orozco netted the winner in the 10th minute in a match which saw the Red Giants squander several gilt-edged chances at MBPJ Stadium.
The win was Selangor's first at home on the Asian stage in eight years, and Nidzam was glad that his men got their first win in the competition.
The last time Selangor hosted an Asian tournament match (in 2016), it ended in a goalless draw against Filipino club Ceres at Selayang Municipal Stadium.
Nidzam said he was happy that his team managed to create a lot of chances against Cebu.
"We have four points from two matches, I believe this is a good start for Selangor.
"I would be more afraid if we were not creating chances. If we keep on creating chances like this, I feel that we have a chance to get wins.
"I admit that we had a lot of chances to score, but the 1-0 win was a fair result. It was not easy to play against a very disciplined side."
Selangor are two points behind group leaders Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors of South Korea. Thailand's Muangthong United are third with one point while Cebu are last with no points.
