Police station chief, two cops arrested at entertainment centre; positive for drugs

KUALA LUMPUR: A police station chief and two policemen were arrested while partying at an entertainment centre in Taman Dutamas, Cheras, were found to be positive for drugs.

The three individuals, aged between 37 and 57, serve with Kajang police headquarters.

Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, said they were among 14 individuals arrested during a police raid at the entertainment centre in the early hours of yesterday morning.

"Following inspections and urine screening tests, all 14 individuals tested positive for drugs, including the three police officers.

"They have been remanded for two days from yesterday until today for further investigation under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he said in a statement today.

Hussein added that immediate action had been taken to transfer the three police officers involved to the Management Department of the Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters while awaiting the investigation results.

He also said that a disciplinary investigation would follow for internal action by the police.

"Officers and personnel are prohibited from being in entertainment centres unless on official duty.

"Strict action, including criminal charges, will be taken against any officers and personnel who violate orders, including those involved in drug abuse," he said.

Earlier, Harian Metro reported that police had arrested a police station chief and two of his officers who were partying at an entertainment centre.

According to sources, the raid was conducted by a team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department of Selangor police headquarters after receiving information.
