KAJANG: The body of a man was stuffed into a luggage bag and left near a drain at Cheras Perdana, Bandar Tun Hussien Onn here.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said they were alerted over the incident by a concerned member of the public at around 11.45am today.
"The individual who alerted us noticed that a foul stench was emanating from the bag.
"A police forensic team and K-9 unit were sent to the scene to conduct further investigations," he said.
He said they confirmed that the blue luggage bag contained the body of a man.
"Initial checks revealed the body was fully clothed but did not have any identification documents.
"The body has been sent to the Serdang Hospital Forensic Department for post-mortem examination," he said, adding that the post-mortem examination was expected to be conducted at 9am tomorrow.
He said they conducting a thorough investigation in order to identify the suspect involved and get a clearer picture of what actually transpired.
"We have opened investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
"Those with information on the case can contact Investigating Officer Assistant Superintendent Umesh Ratna Kumar at 012-611 4900," he said.
It was initially reported that a body, stuffed into a luggage bag, was found near a drain at Taman Cheras Perdana.
Residents in the area became suspicious when they noticed a foul stench emanating from the bag.
Flies and maggots were also seen around the zipper of the blue luggage bag, which was locked and tied with a red strap.
